Terms & Conditions
Effective date: September 17, 2026
Last updated: September 17, 2026
These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and ResumeRuler ("ResumeRuler," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of resumeruler.com and the ResumeRuler service (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, buying a plan, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, or under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Service and buy a plan only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. The Service is for your own personal job search. You may not use it on behalf of another person without their permission, and you may not resell it.
2. What the Service does, and what it does not do
ResumeRuler helps you evaluate job opportunities against your own resumes. You add a job by link or by pasting its description; the Service analyzes the posting and your resumes and produces scores, explanations, a list of requirements you may be missing, a tailored ("boosted") resume, and a cover letter.
- Outputs are estimates. Scores, ATS estimates, explanations, resume edits, and cover letters are produced with software and artificial intelligence. They can be incomplete or wrong.
- You are responsible for what you send to employers. Review every resume and cover letter before you use it. Everything in your application materials must be true. Do not claim experience, skills, or credentials you do not have, even if a suggestion appears in an output.
- No guarantee of results. ResumeRuler is not an employer, a recruiter, or a staffing agency. We do not make hiring decisions and we do not guarantee interviews, offers, employment, or any outcome with an applicant-tracking system.
- Job postings belong to others. We retrieve publicly available postings that you point us to. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or legitimacy of a posting or an employer. Be careful with postings that ask for money or sensitive personal information.
3. Your account
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with a passkey you add. Keep your email account and devices secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. One account is for one person. Tell us promptly at support@resumeruler.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. Plans, job workflows, and payment
- One-time plans. ResumeRuler is sold as one-time plans, each adding a number of job workflows to your balance. There is no subscription, no recurring charge, and nothing to cancel. Current plans and prices are shown on the Pricing page and at checkout, in U.S. dollars.
- What a job workflow is. One job workflow is one successfully analyzed job. The resume boost and the cover letter for that job are included, whether or not you use them.
- When a job workflow is used. A job workflow is used when a new, unique job is successfully scored and the result is published to you. It is not used when the posting cannot be read and no analysis is produced, when our AI provider fails before scoring, when the job is a duplicate of one you already have, or when you re-score a job already analyzed. If a job workflow was taken for a job that could not be analyzed, it is returned to your balance automatically.
- No expiry. Job workflows do not expire. Plans stack: buying another plan adds to your balance.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay) or PayPal. Those providers handle your payment details under their own terms; we do not receive or store full card numbers. You authorize the charge shown at checkout. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase, and we may collect tax where the law requires it.
- Price changes. We may change plans and prices at any time for future purchases. Job workflows you have already bought are not affected.
5. Refunds
- Within 14 days of a purchase, you can request a refund of the job workflows you have not used from that purchase. We refund them at the price you paid per job workflow. Example: you buy a plan of 5 job workflows for $3.99 and use 2; the refund is for the 3 unused, which is $2.39.
- Job workflows you have already used are not refundable, because the analysis has been delivered.
- Job workflows are counted as used from your oldest purchase first.
- Refunded job workflows are removed from your balance. Refunds are paid to the original payment method. Your payment provider may take several days to show the refund.
- Job workflows received for free (promotional codes, referral rewards, shares from another user, or other bonuses) have no cash value and are not refundable.
- Job workflows you have shared with someone else (section 8) count as used from the moment you share them.
- To request a refund, email
support@resumeruler.comfrom the email address on your account. - Payment disputes. If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us first; we will usually resolve it faster than a bank dispute. If you open a dispute or chargeback, we may suspend the job workflows from that purchase until it is resolved.
- Nothing in this section limits any refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer law of the place where you live.
6. Promotional codes
We may issue promotional codes that reduce the price of a plan, including to zero. Codes are offered at our discretion and may be limited by expiry date, number of uses, plan, or to one use per account. One code can be applied to a purchase. A discounted price must be either free or at least the minimum amount a card payment allows; a code that would produce a smaller charge cannot be applied to that plan. Codes have no cash value, cannot be exchanged or sold, and may be withdrawn or disabled at any time before they are redeemed. We may cancel job workflows obtained by abusing a code.
7. Referral program
When the referral program is offered, these rules apply.
- Give 1, get 1. When a friend you invite buys their first plan, your friend receives one extra job workflow and you receive one too. We always tell the person you invite that you receive a reward.
- Milestone. Every time three more of your invited friends have qualified, you receive two additional job workflows.
- Who qualifies. Anyone with a ResumeRuler account can invite friends. The friend must be a genuinely new customer who signs up through your invitation and makes a first purchase that is paid (a plan obtained entirely with a promotional code does not qualify).
- When rewards arrive. The friend's extra job workflow is added immediately after their first successful purchase. Your reward becomes available 14 days after that purchase, provided it has not been fully refunded or disputed.
- What does not qualify. Inviting yourself, accounts that share a payment identity with you or with another of your invited friends, fully refunded or disputed purchases, and fake or fraudulent accounts.
- Nature of rewards. Reward job workflows do not expire. They have no cash value and cannot be sold or exchanged for cash. Like any job workflow in your balance, you may share them under section 8.
- We may change or end the referral program at any time. Rewards already added to your balance stay. We may withhold or remove rewards obtained through fraud or abuse of the program.
8. Sharing job workflows
When sharing is offered, these rules apply.
- What sharing is. You may share any whole number of the job workflows in your available balance, up to that balance, with another person by email. A share is a voluntary transfer of non-cash ResumeRuler service entitlements from one user to another.
- Immediate deduction. Shared job workflows leave your balance as soon as you confirm. While a share is pending you cannot use or share those job workflows.
- Claiming. The recipient has 30 days from the share to claim it by signing in to ResumeRuler with the email address you entered. Once claimed, the job workflows belong to the recipient and never expire.
- Return. If the share is not claimed within 30 days, or if you cancel it before it is claimed, the job workflows return to your balance automatically.
- Refunds. Job workflows you have shared count as used under section 5 and are not refundable to you. Job workflows received through a share have no cash value and are not refundable.
- No referral rewards. Sharing, and receiving a share, never counts as a referral and never earns a referral reward.
- Nature of shared job workflows. Transferred job workflows have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and are not charitable contributions or tax-deductible donations.
- Abuse. We may block, reverse, or limit shares that we reasonably believe are fraudulent or abusive, including shares between accounts controlled by the same person to obtain refunds or rewards.
- We may change or end sharing at any time. Shares already claimed stay.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload or submit: resumes, job links and descriptions, LinkedIn exports, preferences, and feedback ("Your Content"). You give us permission to store, process, and transform Your Content, including by sending relevant parts of it to our service providers and AI provider, only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You confirm that you have the right to provide Your Content. LinkedIn exports may contain information about other people; upload them only if you are permitted to, and use them only for your own job search. ResumeRuler is not affiliated with or endorsed by LinkedIn, any job board, or any employer.
Documents the Service generates for you (boosted resumes, cover letters, reports, and exports) are yours to use in your job search.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, deceptive, or harmful;
- upload another person's resume or personal information without their permission;
- create multiple accounts, or use false identities or payment details, to obtain promotional codes, referral rewards, or free job workflows;
- resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to others as a service of your own;
- scrape, copy, or bulk-extract the Service, or access it by automated means other than through features we provide;
- probe, disrupt, overload, or circumvent the security or usage limits of the Service;
- reverse engineer the Service, or use its outputs to build a competing product; or
- upload malicious code or content you have no right to share.
We may limit usage to protect the Service, including a daily cap on the number of jobs an account can have analyzed.
11. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, scoring methods, design, text, graphics, the ResumeRuler name, and its logo, belongs to ResumeRuler and is protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
12. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including payment processors, hosting, email, and an AI provider, and it links to job postings and other sites we do not control. Their terms and privacy policies govern your dealings with them. We are not responsible for third-party services or sites.
13. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and can ask us to delete your account by emailing support@resumeruler.com. Deleting your account forfeits any unused job workflows, except for a refund you are entitled to under Section 5.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we suspect fraud or abuse, or if the law requires it. If we end your access for a reason other than your breach, fraud, or abuse, we will refund your unused paid job workflows at the price you paid per job workflow. If we discontinue the Service altogether, we will give reasonable notice where we can and refund unused paid job workflows on the same basis.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your situation.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, ResumeRuler will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities (including job opportunities), or lost data, arising from or related to the Service. Our total liability for all claims related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and (b) US $50.
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions or limits, so parts of Sections 13 and 14 may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any right you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
16. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of Your Content, your misuse of the Service, or your breach of these Terms, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
17. Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We may add, change, or remove features. We may update these Terms; we will post the new version with a revised "Last updated" date and give additional notice when a change is material. Changes do not apply retroactively to purchases you have already made. If you keep using the Service after an update takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in San Diego County, California have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where the consumer law of your place of residence gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts or the benefit of mandatory local protections. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.
19. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and ResumeRuler about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business.
